 AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles is dedicated to accelerating scientific collaboration, advancing an emerging blue economy through business innovation and job creation, and inspiring the next generation, all for a more sustainable, just and equitable world. 

 Founded in 2018, the Black Design Collective is comprised of accomplished fashion industry professionals-of-color who seek to amplify the influence of and create opportunities for the community of Black apparel and accessory designers and costume designers within the US and abroad. The BDC mission is rooted in the promotion of Scholarship, Mentorship, and Entrepreneurship within emerging generations of Black fashion design talent. Through this work, the BDC aims at ultimately fostering an independent and self-sustaining Black fashion community. 

Cooking With Gabby is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit advancing nutrition equity in underserved communities.  Through educational cooking classes and other programs, we address hunger, food access, and preventable health disparities while equipping children and families with tools for lifelong well-being. 

Cooking With Gabby started as a dream of Chef Steve and his daughter Gabby of improving the devastating impact of poor nutrition, obesity, diabetes and heart disease on children and families. Together, they started cooking healthy food and sharing the benefits of healthy eating, active lifestyles  with the community as early as 1996.

 By 2006, Cooking With Gabby, a non-profit organization, had established the mission and commitment reducing the impact by working with children and families, in low income communities, with a high prevalence for health disparities such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease.  Since that time Cooking With Gabby has worked with thousands of children and families, in impacted communities, giving them the tools to live healthy lifestyles from the earliest possible age. 

Thomas “TJ” Walker co-founder of Cross Colours clothing designs have graced the pages of such prominent publications as: Forbes, Details, Code, Black Enterprise, Elle, Source, Sportswear International, Vibe and Women’s Wear Daily. As a partner and Vice President of Product Development and Design, his most recent venture, JADED APPAREL is the result of numerous years of independent research as a freelance designer for such companies as: Cross Colours, Groove, UMEN, Menace, DKNY, MKO Man, DADA, Converse and Target Stores’ private label programs. As a highly respected leader in the contemporary fashion industry, Walker has received numerous design awards, which includes the coveted Rising Star Award (issued by the Men’s Fashion Association) and the Chrysler Award for innovation in Design. He was also a member of the President’s commission on the NAFTRA agreement, and was invited to speak at the White House on behalf of the fashion sportswear industry.

A prominent designer and co-founder of the Black Design Collective, Walker focuses on nurturing creative excellence through specialized mentorship programs. He complements his non-profit leadership with a strong academic presence, educating the future workforce as a faculty member at both the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) and LA Trade & Tech College.

The Fly Compton Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing underserved youth (ages 8–18) with access to aviation education, mentorship, and hands-on flight experiences. By bridging the gap in aerospace opportunities, we inspire the next generation of pilots and aviation professionals to soar toward their dreams.

The mission of the Los Angeles County Fire Department is to protect lives, the environment, and property by providing prompt, skillful, and cost-effective fire protection and life safety services.

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department has a very rich and unique history, which is full of innovation, and daring accomplishments. From designing the 911 system and initiating a paramedic program in the 1970s to the current day USAR and Homeland Security Sections, our fire department is a leader and a model to fire departments around the world. Our Department’s ability to develop new techniques and equipment to fight fires of all kinds has benefited not only the residents we serve, but the fire service in general, both nationally and internationally.

 The Van Nuys Neighborhood Council (VNNC) is an official organization of the City of Los Angeles, staffed by 18 elected, unpaid volunteers. Our Board is composed of Van Nuys stakeholders from all walks of life, who share a desire to make our home town a safer, greener, and more prosperous place to live. 

The mission for the Van Nuys Neighborhood Council is to serve and protect the public’s interest in serving the Van Nuys community by encouraging public participation and debate into the quorum. Many Los Angelenos are looking for ways to make a difference in their communities on the issues they care about the most. So we welcome stakeholders, community activist in the neighborhood to join in neighborhood council meeting and speak to us in making Van Nuys a place we can all be proud of.
